Hole
1

The first is beautiful hole to begin your round on
Cleeve Hill. From the white tee, the hole is 558 yards long, stroke index 9 and
normally
plays downwind. From the tee, the line is to the marker pole on top of
the ridge, trouble awaits pulled shots in the gullies to the left of the marker
pole. Most middle handicappers land close to, or just short of the marker
pole. The second shot is a long iron or a fairway wood. If you are
short of the marker pole, the shot is blind and the locals use the fire-break on
the hill in the far distance as their line. A good second shot will land you in
the valley to the left of the green and from there its only a short or mid iron
into the green. The green is protected by a bunker on the front right and
a steep ridge that kicks the ball left, runs half the length of the green, is also
on the right. For those who pull the third shot left you are then facing a very
delicate little chip onto a raised green to make par.
